TYPICAL HAND-WIRED INSTRUMENT PANEL "STACK" CAN TAKE FROM 40 TO 200
MAN-HOURS TO ASSEMBLE AND DEBUG. THE APPROACH SPORT HUB REDUCES THE TIME TO LESS
THAN 8 HOURS.|
OREM, Utah, December 6, 2021 - Approach
Systems Corporation (www.approach-systems.com),
a manufacturer of aviation electronics products, announces availability of the
Approach Sport Hub and Cable System. The Approach Sport Hub replaces the hand-wired
"snake pit" behind the instrument panel with a hub and cable system
dramatically reducing time to install and upgrade aviation avionics.
Approach Sport Hub is an industry first utilizing a modular plug and play approach
to avionics interconnection eliminating time consuming and disorganized wiring
inherent to general aviation and kit plane aircraft. In addition, the Approach
Sport Hub increases the reliability and life time performance of avionics and
improves future maintainability while virtually eliminating the electronic noise
and the associated problems of typical hand-wiring by centralizing the grounding
and utilizing uniform cable shielding with proper termination.
Approach Sport Hub uses the latest technologies to tie together all components
of a "stack" with a standard central hub and high quality Milspec Tefzel
cables for most popular GPS, Nav/Comms, audio panels and intercoms. A future change
to your "stack" requires only a new cable. An Approach Sport Hub for
a VFR aircraft with a full instrument panel costs $299 and the cost for most cables
is $99. A minimum system can cost less than $500. In the near future, Approach
will announce a more comprehensive "hub" for IFR capable-complex aircraft.
"The most significant barrier to
the upgrade and installation of new avionics, especially in older aircraft, is
unknown labor and technical details in panel wiring. Approach has solved that."
Said Kieth Sorenson, Approach's President. "As a past owner of a number of
avionics sales and service shops, we regularly avoided significant panel upgrades
due to the risk in labor cost overruns. The Approach Sport Hub helps shops by
reducing 80% of the required labor for an install thereby increasing their ability
to service more customers and sell more aviation electronics while increasing
the reliability and proper installation of avionics."
according to Sorenson, "Sport aircraft and kit plane builders can install
their own avionics with the assurance that they are installed and wired properly."
Approach Systems is focused on developing
products to automate the upgrade and retrofit process of general aviation electronics
(avionics). The products are based on modular technologies using aerospace standard
components, materials and computer technology. For more information, visit www.approach-systems.com.
